CHAOS THEORY

An exhibition of paintings by Ginger Slonaker

Bay Area artist Ginger Slonaker was born in the Pacific Islands, grew up in Washington, D.C., then spent several years in the Netherlands. Her work unequivocally offers a world that is both whimsical and twisted as she depicts the many narratives of her painted characters as playful, yet at the same time they are undeniably complex with other emotions: outrage, indifference, envy, malevolence. Attracted by an engaging palette of vivid colors and surrealistic proportions, the viewer will be readily pulled closer but will then experience the rich, dark subtexts that Slonaker explores through themes of dysfunction, injustice and a fertile complex of human emotional experience.
